Drivers in four divisions racing for more than $13,000 each week

WEST HAVEN, VT — Nearly one-quarter of a million dollars is up for grabs for stock car drivers competing at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in 2012. Weekly purses in the track’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Modified, Late Model, Renegade, and Bomber divisions will total more than $242,000 through 18 scheduled events from May to September.

The headline Modified division, which will combine traditional 358-cubic inch engines with modern General Motors “602” crate motors for the first time in 2012, will see a minimum of $1,000 awarded to the winner of each regular 35-lap feature event. The runner-up will receive $600, the tenth-place finisher will win $200, and all drivers qualifying for the 24-car starting grid will be guaranteed at least $125. Total posted weekly purses for the Modified class will be just shy of $6,000.
