You’ve got to give Tony Stewart kudos for his quick thinking when the top running drivers in the Fontana Auto Club 400 Cup race headed for the pits in Sunday’s rain-plagued race.  He feigned going into the pits, and, at the last minute, veered to the right staying on the track. That clever ploy resulted in his eventually winning his second race of the 2012 season when the event was declared complete due to heavy rain.  It was his 46th career win.  “We had a great car thanks to my crew and (engine supplier) Hendrick Motors.  My crew busted their butts, and they train real hard at the track and in the shop.  They are one unit,” said Smoke in Victory Lane.  “Winning two doesn’t guarantee anything, though.”

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. (Feb. 16) – Cody Coughlin and the JEGS.com Chevrolet team kick off their 2012 season this week when they take on the 46th annual World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway.

Run in conjunction with NASCAR’s Speedweeks at Daytona International Speedway, the World Series features eight nights of racing, with the country’s top short-track racers competing against one another for big money and bragging rights.

Coughlin, who tested at New Smyrna last week, will race his No. 1 JEGS.com Chevrolet in the Pro Late Model category, one of several classes which will be contested at the half-mile track 12 miles from Daytona.

18-year High School Senior Has Stellar Weekend at Willow Springs

BAKERSFIELD, CA (February 15, 2012)- Austin Reed, an 18-year old honors student at Frontier High School in Bakersfield and driver of the Approved Memory/K&N Filters sponsored Legend car, continued his study in motorsports finishing first and second in two races this past weekend on the 2.5-mile 9-turn roadcourse of Willow Springs International Raceway located in the California desert near Rosamond.

Reed topped the stout field of Legend Car racers from across the Southern California region on Saturday by setting the pace in qualifying, winning his heat race and then winning the feature event in only his second career roadcourse appearance.
